I fondly remember the day I took my three young teens to the AT&T store and got them their first cell phones. I was worried they might not yet be old enough to understand how to use them. To my shock, within less than five minutes, while I was still at the counter beginning to deal with the associated paperwork, they had already opened the boxes, set up the phones, and begun texting each other photos freshly taken in the shop.

Authentic learning, inspired learning, just-in-time learning, meaningful learning, relevant learning, learning by doing, living is learning. These are attempts to describe the type of education Clonlara School advocates and promotes. I have no question that such learning occurs quite successfully with Clonlara’s students. I see it every day with the campus students, and hear about it regularly from the Home Based students.

What an opportunity! Ohio University is offering summer sessions: From July 15 - August 11, 2012, OU invites students who have completed their freshman, sophomore or junior year of high school with at least a 3.25 GPA to apply for their Honors Academy. Students may enroll in 2-3 regular university courses and have the option to live in a residence hall or commute. OU is offering each accepted student a $1,000.00 credit voucher.
